As a leader you will find yourself in the precarious situation to give feedback to those you lead. Whether this is positive feedback or negative feedback, that depends largely upon the metrics by which you choose to lead. One thing is certain, those whom you lead need your feedback.
For some, this feedback serves as a validation of sorts. Feedback from the leader lets them know that they are valued. It gives them the fuel to continue on, striving towards the goal. For others, this feedback serves as the ditches in their professional life. It lets them know when they have veered right or left of center and are in need of a correction. Wait too long to offer feedback for the first person and he or she will lose heart. Wait too long or fail to offer feedback to the second type of person and you may find them in the ditch where no amount of feedback can help.
