So many times we want to complain about the current circumstances of our lives. However, we all too often fail to ask those who could improve or help us improve our lives for the thing we want/need. Granted, sometimes we can’t find the question to ask.
Let me tell you how asking can move people to action. In Kisii, Kenya there is a small church and a local pastor. The pastor there knew his people needed a good reliable source of water. He even knew how to get that source, by hiring local contractors to drill a well. However, he didn’t have the funds to make that a reality. So, he did what he knew to do. He asked.
First, he asked God through prayer to make this water well a reality. He knew it was a need for the people he served and would be a life changing, life giving moment for this community. He didn’t stop there.
He asked a small church in Oklahoma if they could help at all. He got specific with that request. He told them what he needed, a well. He told them how he would get the well, hire local contractors. He then told them how much it would cost, $2000-$3000 depending on how deep the well needed to be.
Now, my wife and I sit in an airport in St. Louis about to fly to Chicago then Amsterdam then to Nairobi then to Kisumu and finally drive to the village near Kisii. Not only are we going to help them get a well or two or three, but we are bringing a few hundred pounds of other much needed supplies to the church in Kisii. All of this is happening because a pastor asked.
What do you need to ask for in your life? Ask God first then ask someone who can be used by God to help provide.
4 Bags each weighing 49.0 lbs, mostly of supplies for the church in Kisii.
